    Lots of snow

Had a really nice weekend, which is great, because I have a packed week ahead of me. That's okay, busy days make the week go by quickly. On Friday, a big group of us went out for dinner at McCoy's in St. Louis Park and then roller skating at the Roller Garden. Can't say I did too much skating! I am as good as roller skating as I am at skiing.  On Saturday, Jennie, Carrie and I went to Lifetime and worked out. We received over 12 inches of snowfall on Saturday evening, so Bryan, Zoe and I just spent the evening watching movies, reading and relaxing. On Sunday, I went to the Minneapolis Institute of Arts for lunch, to take a look at the exhibits and to listen to a lecture by a collector of drawings. We also stopped by the General Store of Minnetonka for a drink and to browse.

    Jake O'Connors

Just noticed that I've had quite a bit of Internet traffic come with visitors searching for information on Jake O'Connors using Google, Yahoo and Dogpile. If you are one of them, here is the info that you are looking for:

    Jake O'Connor's
    200 Water Street
    Exelsior, MN 55331

Move over Kieran’s, Kip’s and Dubliner, there’s a new Irish pub in town! Dermot Cowley (hailing from Drogheda in County Louth, just north of Dublin) opened his second Twin Cities pub this winter after the certain success of O’Donovan’s Irish Pub, his first endeavor located right by the Target Center.

Jake O’Connor’s Public House was named after Cowley’s sons, Jake and Connor, and is found on Lake Street in Excelsior. Open daily, they serve lunch and dinner.

Been busy getting trained in at work and getting to know everyone. It's still going quite well and I'm enjoying the transition. Always interesting to try something new, that's for sure.

    Happy weekend!

    Happy Valentine's Day!

Hope that everyone has a fantastic Valentine's Day! Not doing any particularly special to celebrate. I had a bromeliad plant from Bachman's delivered to Bryan at work. We were going to go out for dinner at Outback, but Bryan still isn't feeling all that well, so we are going to skip that instead. I haven't eaten any real food today! Had a piece of chocolate torte this morning from a co-worker's going away treat, for lunch, I had some desserts provided to us from Carlson Real Estate, who manages the building our office is in. Sugar high, sugar low. Looking forwad to this wekeend, Bryan and I are planning a day trip to New Ulm fo Schell Brewery's Bockfest, we might check out dueling pianos at the Shout! House and Jennie and I are going to the Pet Expo (which incidently, I won tickets to- yay!). Rumors on the horizon: we might be heading to Las Vegas soon!  Freakin' sweet.

    Birthday weekend

I had a fantastic birthday weekend. Thanks to everyone for their wishes. Started by building my bear, Sydney on Friday after work with Jennie. We went to the store at Ridgedale and then did a bit of shopping after that. Woke up really early on Saturday morning and took Zoe to get groomed at PetSmart. She didn’t believe that we were really going out and it took quite a bit of convincing to get her going. Zoe really loves her groomer Trisha and it seems Trisha loves her right back. Later that morning, Bryan and I both got massages at a salon/spa in Wayzata called Twiggs. A very relaxing way to start my day! We met Ty, Jess, Jennie and Chris at Chambers for lunch and then went to Albertville and Ridgedale for a bit of shopping. In the evening, we headed to Dinkytown and met the Marshalls for dinner at the Loring Pasta Bar. Later that night, I spent an entire hour sorting through 6 large boxes of Pampered Chef and packing them into separate bags for everyone. On Sunday, we drove down to Prior Lake to drop Rich off and checked out the Caribou Coffee where he works. He made me a white chocolate mocha, which was deee-licious. Then we went to breakfast with Mike and Kyrsten at Perkins. Bryan and I went to Hannibal Rising at the Eden Prairie Center. It’s a pretty good movie, better than I had expected.

Lots of things going on this upcoming week, including Valentine's Day, the Pet Expo at the Minneapolis Convention Center, Bockfest in New Ulm and game night with friends.

I know some people don’t really care to read about my day-to-day activities, but then really… if you are one of them, why are you still reading? Heh. I figured that one day, I’ll look back and this will be a record of the things that I have done. Or at least find out who and what I can use as my alibi (just kidding!). I’ve always loved reading books that were written with a “diary format”, so I figured that looking into somebody’s life would be just as interesting. Or maybe not. Thanks for reading, I appreciate your time. Happy Valetine's Day.

    Casual Friday

It’s the end of the first week at my new job and I am really enjoying it. First of all, I’m definitely enjoying the very short commute to and from work and I’m also liking the extra hour of sleep that I’m getting in the morning. I’ve been in training classes all week and trying to remember everything that I’ll be training in the future. I haven’t had the chance to make it home during lunch to let Zoe out, but I’m planning to do that once it starts getting nice out and I don’t have back to back training classes. One of the perks of the new job is having casual Fridays! I’ve definitely missed that this past year and am enjoying the freedom to wear jeans to work. Yay! My new co-workers have been doing a great job welcoming me into the team. They are a fun group- love to laugh and joke around. I think I’ll definitely fit in here. It’s also nice to work with a group of trainers again, with other people to bounce ideas off of and with experience that I can build on.

This evening, Jennie is taking me to Build-A-Bear for my birthday. (I know, I sound like I’m 6 years old). I can’t wait! After that, I’m going with Carrie to a scrapbooking crop night at Artsy Tartsy. Tomorrow, Zoe is getting her fluff cut first thing in the morning and Bryan and I are getting massages (his Valentine’s Day gift) and because it’s my birthday! Then, we are going to Chambers for lunch and then to the Loring Pasta Bar for dinner with the Marshalls. Good times. I just wish it would start to warm up a little bit more. C’mon Spring! Where are you?

    Have a great weekend!

    First day at work

Today was my first day at my new job at Medica. I LOVED the 4 minute commute, just too bad that it had to be SO COLD outside. Completed lots of paperwork, got my desk and laptop set up, got my picture taken for my badge and met lots of people. I think I'll really like it there, it's a great group of people with lots of energy. I'll be busy for the next few weeks, taking notes on everything that I'll be training soon. There's a nice cafeteria in the building and a fitness center as well. I'm hoping to be able to go home for lunch when I get settled in and when the weather gets better.

    Even COLDER :(

It's about negative a hundred degrees outside right now (sure feels like it at least). Went to Yoga this morning and basically ran to the car and back. Pat came over and showed me her watercolors and I showed her my scrapbooks. She brought her dog, Chester, over and he played with Zoe. They chased each other all over the house.

Last night was the Pampered Chef party and we had a great turn out. I had a great time entertaining everyone. Can't wait for the summer again so we can grill out with friends. Ahh, to have nice weather again.

I start my new job at Medica on Monday. I hope it goes well! Tomorrow is Corey and Carrie's Superbowl party and I need to get everything ready for it. FUN TIMES.

    It's so COLD

It's been a great week at work. Everyone has been very kind and gracious is wishing me well and saying goodbye. I've gotten to know some great people where I work. It's definitely been hard to leave! Tomorrow is my last day and I'll be starting my new job on Monday. I'm excited to move on to a new adventure. Had a Taco potluck at work today and it was really successful. After work, I went out for Happy Hour with some co-workers. When I got home from work, I cleaned the house in preparation for the Pampered Chef party tomorrow. Can't wait! Lots of people have RSVP'ed yes for it, so we are expecting a number of folks over. Saturday will be another busy day of hanging out with friends and then the Superbowl is on Sunday. Weekends ROCK.

The downside? It's supposed to be the coldest that it's been for the past two years during this weekend. YUCK. Not looking forward to that.
