10月31日 Happy Halloween!Great news! Veronica and Justin are moving to Mpls. YAY!! What fantastic news. Justin was given a job offer today and they'll be moving around Thanksgiving. Today at work we had a potluck and it was awesome. Lots of food, so much that it didn't even fit in one room. Came home a bit early to set up for trick or treaters and I've been waiting almost an hour now and no one has shown up yet!
 I wish it didn't get dark so early and that the weather was nicer to be outside. DANG. I hope we get at least a couple of kids! Kind of depressing. I put out my Halloween sign at the front of our driveway and put my plug in jack-o-lantern outside the door and turned on all the lights that face the street. How more welcoming can I be? Kind of sucks to have to wake up early in the morning again and drive to work. Being at work is not so bad though. Tomorrow is Halloween and I hope we get kids who trick or treat at our house, I'm definitely prepared with the candy. I'm heading straight home after work tomorrow so I can catch the young kids who start early. On Wednesday, we are going to the Timberwolves season opener game. Got free tickets from Target, good thing I watch the KARE-11 Saturday morning show. I've never been to a T-Wolves game before, actually, I've never been to any professional basketball game before, so it should be fun. We are in the process of trying to plan a Spring break vacation with Corey and Carrie and I hope it works out, it would be so fun! Currently working on getting prices and making some comparisons. Trying to save money and vacation time, so it's going to be interesting. I would love to go on a cruise, since I've never been on one before, plus it's nice that they are all-inclusive.
I've been contemplating on whether or not I should get a flu shot this year. I ponder this every year and seem to get one every other year. I know you aren't supposed to get sick from them, but every time I get one, I'll get sick immediately after for almost a week. To the point where I'm not even functioning well enough to do anything. Since I didn't get one last year, I must have forgotten about it and will probably get one this year.
Can't believe that it's almost November already. Time sure flies! Soon it will be Thanksgiving and Christmas and then we'll be celebrating 2007. It's been a very exciting year for us- moving from Grand Forks, getting new jobs, buying our house. Who knows what 2007 will bring us! 10月28日 end of the vacation :(Dropped the family off at the airport this morning. Already looking forward to seeing my mom again in a year. Wish she lived closer to us, instead of a 25 hour plane ride away. Took her to Wendy's (her favorite) before heading to the airport so she could pick up a couple of Junior Bacon Cheeseburgers for the ride.
 After dropping them off, we headed to Eden Prairie to find Bryan a Halloween costume. We ended up getting him some scrubs and a fake stethoscope. Was pretty comfy and looked like a costume! I borrowed Jennie's devil costume and Zoe also dressed up as a devil. After that, we headed home and did some quick cleaning around the house before Veronica arrived from her interview with Allina. I hope she gets the job! Then we went to the new Costco in Maple Grove that just opened today and did some bulk item shopping. Detergent, bathroom tissue (sounds better than TP), dryer sheets, the usual. Decided to drop our Sam's Club membership (it expired in Sept and I didn't even realize!) and go with Costco instead, since it's located in much more convenient places for us. Since it was opening day, they had LOTS of sampling and we sampled out way around the store. Tasty. Later that evening, we went to Jennie's Halloween party, all dressed up. Zoe did a great job of keeping her costume on and not taking off her devil horns. She's a good dog.  Everyone was pretty tired so we went home and went to bed. Zzzzzzzz... Jennie came over tonight for dinner. Before that, Bryan and I met Cyndy for drinks and apps. It was good catching up with her again. My family is flying home tomorrow. Can't believe how quickly these past two weeks have flown by. I hope the weekend takes it's time to pass! Tomorrow we need to do some major house cleaning before we head to Jennie's Halloween party. Again, can't believe that it's already the END of October! It's almost daylight saving time. Dang it. That only means one thing- winter is on it's way. Which also means that Thanksgiving and Christmas are right around the corner. Which is always fun. Can't believe it's already Wednesday, my family leaves on Friday afternoon back to Malaysia. We'll have to clean house quickly because Veronica will be coming and staying at our place.
I'm considering buying Zoe a Halloween costume from Lulu and Luigi- the hot dog one with the mustard or ketchup squiggle down the middle on the pup. So cute. It would be nice to have since it stays on her a little better than her devil costume and it's adorable. 10月23日 home sweet homeIt's great to be home! After a long drive back from Bemidji, along with stops in the Albertville outlets and the Cabela's in Rogers. Bought quite a few birthday presents. It's great to get everything out of our very packed car and Zoe is glad to be home and out of her kennel as well. She's so tired that she went to bed early. It'll be nice to sleep in our own bed tonight. It was a fun trip, hanging out with Mel, Brit and V in GF, staying at Linda's house, going out with Bryan's grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins in Bemidji, seeing my family friends and having lunch at their house. My mom and I went to Boston Market to pick up some chicken and sides for dinner tonight and it was pretty tasty. They have some pretty good deals and their food is always good. I've spent the night going through the weekend's newspapers, mail and writing out thank you cards and addressing birthday gifts.
We are also watching the second season of Lost that Rich lent us. It's getting weirder as it progresses. Good show either way. I've missed to many episodes of House that I don't even know what's going on anymore. Same with Grey's Anatomy. Wish I had TiVo! Then I could watch just the TV shows that I wanted to, when I wanted to! What a great invention.
Other great news, I won the IS Quarterly Award at work! I'll be going in later this week to have my picture taken and to accept the award. How COOL!
I'm excited. What an honor!! And the monetary bonus is nice as well.  Off to watch Lost and get ready for bed. Good night world. 10月22日 GF/BemidjiWe've been all over the state in the past few days. First of all, the furnace in our house decided to break down at the worst possible time- when my family was visiting. Good news is that we were able to find a repairman to come over to fix it pretty quickly. On Thursday, we drove up to Grand Forks and went to Linda's house. Took my family to UND and to shop in Grand Forks. On Friday, we met up with Melissa, Steve, Veronica and Linda for lunch. Later that evening, we went to the Sioux hockey game at the Ralph Engelstad arena in the suite. It was a great time- free food and drinks is always nice. Then we headed over to Bemidji for the rest of the weekend and met up with Bryan's extended family and my family friends, the Gazelkas. It was nice seeing everyone again and to have my family meet up with everyone. Now it's back to the Twin Cities. But of course with a stop to the outlet mall on the way home! Linda just called- she just got back from a month long trip to Australia. Sounds like she had a fantastic time there. I couldn't imagine being on vacation for an entire month! Been prepping at work to take the next two weeks off. WOOHOO!!!! Lots of things to get finished before I set my Out of Office Assistant thought. There are so many fun ones- an apple one, movie night, game night, poker night, Italian pasta and wine, international snacks, etc. It'll be hard to decide which one to bid on.  Anything for charity! Wayzata Nissan is NOT on my good list right now. I had an appointment to fix my car on Monday before the sale is final. Now they say it's not going to be done until Wednesday afternoon. DANG. Good thing I have a ride to get around in!! What a pain in the butt. And of course it's going to cost 3 times than what they had thought originally. I am sick and tired of being screwed over by car repair people. Youngtedt's Goodyear, Walser Nissan, all of them!! I had to postpone the sale and it's a good thing the buyer is being so great. I hope everything works out smoothly. On the other hand, Walser Chevrolet is on my good list. Our salesman was very friendly and helpful and free car washes and oil changes for the life of the vehicle is a nice bonus.Watching the weather forecast on TV just scares me at this point. Why, oh, why is it snowing? It's not even mid-October yet. Rain mixed with snow?? What a nightmare for commuting. STOP! I want this to be a nice warm winter with minimal blizzards. Had to prepare today by putting the shovel and ice-scraper in the backseat. At least this year we have a garage. I'm dreaming of warmer days.  |
